At its I/O 2018 developer conference, Google announced tons of new features coming to the upcoming Android P. Powered by AI-focused changes, this release looks like company’s most ambitious update in years.
Android P Beta is now available
If you want to have an early look at Android P, whose official name remains unknown, you can go ahead and get the beta. With the launch of Android P public beta program, you can sign up using this link.
What’s more interesting is that Android P beta isn’t just limited to flagship Pixel devices. Instead, smartphones from Nokia, Sony, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Oppo, Essential, and Vivo are also supported. Here are the handsets with Android P Beta support:
- Pixel
- Pixel XL
- Pixel 2
- Pixel 2 XL
- Essential Phone
- Oppo R15 Pro
- Nokia 7 Plus
- Sony Xperia XZ2
- Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S
- Vivo’s X21
It’s worth noting that, as expected, Nexus devices have been dropped from the Beta Program list.
In case you take part in Google’s beta program, you’ll be able to receive the beta updates right via the normal software update route. However, please note that you can’t simply downgrade to Android Oreo if you encounter some hiccup–you’ll have to wipe the device.
